Patient Profile

Profession: Retired
Hobbies: Fitness
Doctor: Dr. Warme

Briefly describe your symptoms and the medical condition that brought you to see the doctor.

Torn Rotator cuff tendon and bicep tendon. When the injury happened I could not move my arm more that 4 inches from my side. I waited way to long hoping my body would heal itself (2 yrs). Lesson here - get in to see a doctor asap! I was very fortunate to have Dr. Warme (an excellent surgeon) put me back together again. His skill (and Gods design) has resulted in an excellent recovery and happy patient.

What one or two things stand out to you about your experience with your doctor and their team?

For example: I was concerned about the discoloration below my Bicep incision. I had expedient e-mail and phone communications with Dr. Warme and his assistant. I went into the medical center and it was concluded to be just part of the healing process. There was ongoing Communications to monitor the discoloration.

What can you do now that you could not do before surgery? Have you been able to return to your hobbies or sports at the same level as pre-injury or at an even higher level?

Before surgery I could not lift my arm above my shoulder. I had learned to use my uninjured arm to put dished away above shoulder level. Its been 6 month since surgery and dishes are no longer a problem. I can now reach up way above my head. The human body is fantastic at repairing itself, with a little bit of help with reattachment. I am now back in the gym and pumping iron :)

What advice would you like to share with a patient with a condition such as yours who is considering surgery?

Pain and discomfort while healing or live your life with limitations. Nothing ventured nothing gained. What do you have to loose? :)
