GaryProfession: Manufacturing/ Distribution
Doctor: Dr. Michael Brage
Briefly describe your symptoms and the medical condition that brought you to see the doctor.
After a very serious Hawkins class IV Talus fracture and subsequent surgery at a hospital in the Seattle area not affiliated with UW, I was referred to Dr. Brage at the Sigvard T. Hansen Foot and Ankle Institute at Harborview Medical Center to "salvage my foot" ( quote from my medical record )
What one or two things stand out to you about your experience with your doctor and their team?
Expertise, Knowledge, Caring, Availability ( personal phone calls, replying to emails promptly ), & especially taking his time to Advocate for me, with my insurance company, when they would not authorize to pay for the total ankle replacement that I needed.
What can you do now that you could not do before surgery? Have you been able to return to your hobbies or sports at the same level as pre-injury or at an even higher level?
Although I have not been able to return to an activity level pre surgery, nor will I, as impact sports are now out, I can play with my grandkids, have been given the green light to ski again ( blue cruising runs only.... with grandkids ). More importantly the little things in life that were taken for granted are easily doable.
Thank You Dr. Brage and Staff !!!
What advice would you like to share with a patient with a condition such as yours who is considering surgery?
Do not wait. I truly believe you will not find a better Doctor, Staff, Facility. To be able to do the "little things"
again is truly a gift.
Please share any additional comments!
Just saying thank you does not seem to be enough. I am willing to talk to any patient with a condition such as mine, to answer any question that I can.
