Patient Profile

Profession: Science
Hobbies: Jogging/ Running
Doctor: Paul Manner, MD

Briefly describe your symptoms and the medical condition that brought you to see the doctor.

From 2006-2008 my left hip developed arthritis and continued to worsen to the point I had a hard time getting out of bed or doing any jogging.

What one or two things stand out to you about your experience with your doctor and their team?

The pre-surgery, surgery, and post-surgery care was the best I have experienced anywhere.

What can you do now that you could not do before surgery? Have you been able to return to your hobbies or sports at the same level as pre-injury or at an even higher level?

After the Hip resurfacing surgery I was able to resume running, triathlons and hiking. I have done a marathon, several triathlons and hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon on four seperate occasions since the procedure. I currently workout seven days per week.

What advice would you like to share with a patient with a condition such as yours who is considering surgery?

You are your first advocate, doing research on your problem is one of the most important things any individual can do. I recommend getting multiple opinions, again so that you have more than one data point to base your decisions on.

Please share any additional comments!

I recommend this resurfacing technique for anyone that is active in their lives.
