Briefly describe your symptoms and the medical condition that brought you to see the doctor.
Sternoclavicular subluxation that began when my arm was pulled on by a patient I was treating. The pain was immediate and since it was an L&I claim I had to go the route of Physical Therapy for 4months before they decided I should see a surgeon. I had limited range of motion, pain in neck from bone pulling muscles downward, and a real nasty click and pop when either pulling my shoulders back or shrugging my shoulders.
What one or two things stand out to you about your experience with your doctor and their team?
Dr. Warmes bedside manner is the greatest. He really took time to know who I was and showed genuine concern for what I was going through. Not only is he an amazing surgeon but he is an amazing guy all around.
What can you do now that you could not do before surgery? Have you been able to return to your hobbies or sports at the same level as pre-injury or at an even higher level?
Before the surgery I was limited in my ROM and had a constant pain that radiated down my arm to my elbow, I also received occasional shooting pain in my neck when turning my head. I am now fully recovered and I am back into playing soccer, frisbee golf, weight lifting and swimming. I have my life back with zero pain and I could not be happier.
What advice would you like to share with a patient with a condition such as yours who is considering surgery?
Don't let another day go by living in this pain limiting what you once were able to do. Choosing the surgery was the best option because I have my life back. Dr. Warme is an amazing surgeon and you will be pleased with the results.
