Hobbies: Woodworking, Writing, Yoga
Doctor: Dr. Tom Staiger (general) and Winston J. Warme, MD (shoulder)
Briefly describe your symptoms and the medical condition that brought you to see the doctor.
Ruptured tendon to the right biceps long head and aggravation of a very old bowling injury.
What one or two things stand out to you about your experience with your doctor and their team?
1. Extremely high degree of professionalism; great care and success in explaining options in patient friendly ways.
2. Absolute surgical success, with recovery precisely as predicted.
What can you do now that you could not do before surgery? Have you been able to return to your hobbies or sports at the same level as pre-injury or at an even higher level?
100% return to pre-injury capacity in strength, movement, control. E.q. perfect ease in inverted yoga poses (like handstand and headstands); moving sheets (4' x 8') of 3/4 plywood about in the shop.
What advice would you like to share with a patient with a condition such as yours who is considering surgery?
Don't hesitate! The surgery to fully repair the problem seems much more radical than it is. The biggest problem is that there are almost no postoperative symptoms, so you really have to be careful not to overdo things during the healing process.
